What Sound Source to Choose to Create Flash Sound Player for Your Website
Audio flash player is the most
popular way to embed audio in a website. What sound sources
can be used by flash sound player? What kind of sound can you
offer your website visitors to playback? What sound source will
meet your requirements the best? We're going to answer these questions
in the article.
Sound sources used to create
flash-based web music players can be divided into following groups:
1. External files
- sound files (mainly mp3 files), which are not embedded in swf file
(file which contains the player). Sound files are located in a web folder.
Making player using external files allows you to replace the files at
any moment without changing player's swf file (the only condition
is that the files' names mustn't be changed). External files can
be played in two ways:
1.1 With a preloader -
preloader is used to show download progress. File(s) should be downloaded
completely before the playback begins.
1.2 In real time - playback
begins while user continues to download data. User can listen to the
already downloaded fragment. After file will be downloaded completely,
user can play back it fully or seek necessary fragment. Players, which
support this sound source, have seek bar to allow finding the necessary
bit of a sound file.
2.à
Streaming audio - a method of delivering an audio signal
which allows hearing the sound as it arrives
at your computer instead of waiting for a complete download. Arriving
(or streaming) data is buffered for a few seconds and then playback
begins. No data is saved (or cashed) on user's computer, so this method
doesn't allow searching. Also, the sound can't be listened for the
second time or listened partially.
3. Embedded sound
- sound file is embedded in swf file. Using this method, you should
upload only the swf file to your website to publish the player. Sound
file shouldn't be uploaded because the sound is already included with
swf. Players of this type are the easiest to publish but the sound can't
be changed after publishing without rebuilding swf file. Embedded sound
usually means that player contains only one sound file.
Before choosing a sound source,
consider what your web sound player is for. For example, your company
allows a discount for its product and you want your website visitors
to listen to voice message with this ad information - in this case
you'd better use an embedded sound. Sound player with an embedded
sound can also have a preloader. So, if you want to be sure that your
visitors can listen to the message fully and without interruptions,
choose an embedded sound with a preloader. To entertain your
visitors with background music, use player for external files
with or without preloader. Your website visitors will be able to use
control buttons, seeking bar and volume control to enjoy music while
staying at your website. Streaming audio is obviously the best
solution for online radio.
Fun SoundPlayer Makeràand
FlashWAmp tools allow creating flash music player using whatever
sound source you prefer. Use Fun SoundPlayer Maker to create
either on\off button with one embedded sound file or a full-functional

may add online radio URL to your playlist.
